UMaine Extension’s flagship diet training program a part of multistate group to obtain nationwide excellence award – UMaine Information


College of Maine Cooperative Extension professor Kate Yerxa is a member of a multistate crew honored with the 2022 Nationwide Excellence in Extension award from the U.S. Division of Agriculture’s (USDA) Nationwide Institute of Meals and Agriculture (NIFA), the Affiliation of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU), and Cooperative Extension. The Agricultural Experiment Station Multistate Analysis Group was cited for excellence and management in performing the work of Extension analysis, technical help, and outreach training. 

The purpose of the Expanded Meals and Diet Training Program’s (EFNEP) Associated Analysis, Program Analysis, and Outreach multistate venture is to strengthen the proof base of EFNEP by growing and testing vital and culturally related analysis instruments to evaluate this system’s effectiveness.

Yerxa, who can be UMaine Extension’s EFNEP coordinator, has led Maine’s participation on this venture since its inception in 2008.
