“The challenges we face are vital,” stated EVMS President Dr. Alfred Abuhamad. “Boundaries to care, together with an absence of insurance coverage protection, an insufficient provide of healthcare suppliers, systemic social inequities and difficulties navigating the healthcare system contribute to the well being disparities that forestall many Virginians from attaining optimum well being.”
This system, often known as the EVMS-NSU Analysis and Coaching Incubator for Collaboration in Well being Fairness initiative, or ENRICHE, hopes to tip the scales.
This system is designed to reinforce collaborative analysis centered on healthcare disparities and to develop pathways for NSU college students fascinated by a medical profession or the well being occupation.
That features college students like Ariana Simmons, who hopes to get into the dermatology area someday.
